Eileen Sylvester

Eileen grew up just north of Jefferson, in the Aurora/Canby area on a farm, but had never been to Jefferson until they came to look at property here in 2016. She and her husband Kevin bought the property and moved to Jefferson in 2017 at which time they began attending ALC.  In August of that year Eileen became the director of Children’s Ministry.

Kevin and Eileen have six children and 8 grandchildren, most of their children and all their grandchildren live in the South and the East Coast. Eileen has worked with children most of her adult life, both professionally and at church. This is the second church I have held the position on Children’s Ministry Director. I have worked in some capacity in children’s ministry at every church we have attended since my first child was born in 1980. I also ran an in-home daycare and homeschooled our children and other families for 20 years. After that I worked for Head Start and a private childcare facility before moving to Jefferson.

With our family not being local, ALC has truly become family to us.

Eileen's Fun Facts

Favorite thing about ALC

It’s not just a church, it’s truly a family. People are genuine and really care about one another. Also, their value that “no one stands alone” when they are going through life’s struggles is huge.

Who/What inspires you

Seeing the “light” come on for a child (or an adult) – when they suddenly “get it”.  That happening in relationship to their understanding of who Jesus Christ is, is worth every bit of work I do to facilitate Big Life Kids.

Something you enjoy

We love to travel – seeing as many State & National Parks as possible across the country. We love to hike, bike, paddle board/kayak and just be out and about exploring this amazing world that God created for us.

Farthest you've traveled from home

Israel, it was amazing!
